Bourbon Infused Meatballs

Say bacon and BBQ sauce and the average BBQ enthusiast will get excited. Add whiskey and smoking wood to that and it gets even more interesting. Then grab the marinade injector and you will end up with this dish. These whiskey injected bacon wrapped meatballs are first smoked, then injected and finally coated with BBQ sauce. What more could a man want?

  • 600 grams Ground Beef
  • 16 slices Smoked Bacon
  • 4 tablespoons BBQ Rub
  • 8 tablespoons BBQ Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons Whiskey
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Dried Parsley
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper

  • Smokewood
  • Basting Brush
  • Marinade Injector


  • Take a mixing bowl and put the minced meat in it. Add the egg, parsley and a good amount of black pepper and mix everything together. Then form 8 meatballs.
  • Now sprinkle the BBQ rub on a plate and roll the meatballs through the rub. Wrap each meatball with 2 slices of smoked bacon and secure it with skewers if necessary. Put the meatballs in the refrigerator for a while.
  • In the meantime, fire up the BBQ and prepare it for indirect heat and a temperature of 120 degrees Celsius (248 Fahrenheit). Is the BBQ at the right temperature? Then add smoking wood to the burning coals and place the meatballs on the BBQ grid. Close the BBQ with the lid and smoke the meatballs for 20 minutes.
  • Then grab the marinade injector and fill it with the bourbon. Inject each meatball with whiskey and close the BBQ again. Cook the meatballs for another 20 minutes and then brush them all over with the BBQ sauce. Repeat this after 10 minutes. Remove the bourbon injected meatballs from the BBQ when they have been on it for an hour in total. Serve the meatballs immediately. Enjoy!
